FALLING, Performance,
2006
DVD
During Spring 2006 I was inspired by Michaela Peters, a German Textile Artist. I worked with the idea for a performance based on the Bauhaus
Triadic Ballet of Oskar Schlemmer, 1922 - to Merce Cunningham’s dance choreography.
For this performance, I wanted to find out how long (time duration) I could repeatedly
fall. Starting with standing upright and free falling downwards, each time making
a loud thump on the ground. A custom handmade full body suit was worn, as
in a protective layer. Two video cameras were my audience. I fell for what felt
like an eternity, on one of the hottest days in Palo Alto, California during the summer
of 2006. A warm thank you to Michaela and Yosephina and Kamau Patton.
Performance location: Stanford University, Palo Alto, CA
